O is for Octopus

Practice letter recognition and counting to 8 with this cute octopus.

-construction paper
-googly eyes
-glue
-hole puncher
-crayon

At work we have a movable alphabet which was used to trace the O. Puzzles are also great for tracing or free handing works well too. I also cut up octopus legs beforehand. Children glued the O, legs, and eyes on and then drew a crayon smile for their octopus. They then added blue holes from a hole puncher as bubbles.

M is for Mom

In May we celebrated our moms and we were also studying the letter m, so this craft was perfect.

M is for Mom Collage--

-construction paper
-glue
-stickers
-stamps
-paper hearts

I glued the M for the kids, but then let them decorate with things moms like: flower stickers, hearts, and floral/love related stamps. Many different materials can be used for this collage. I like to use watered down glue and a paintbrush so my kids can glue their own items.

B is for Blog

It's simple really.  I love to do art with my kids.

I love to get messy, I love watching them experiment with colors and textures and staying in the lines, and I even love their mistakes.

Maybe this will just be a way for me to nostalgically catalog the crafts we've created together. Maybe it will be the basis for my art plans in the future years. Or maybe it will help other teachers or moms create some fun art with their kiddos.

So here goes nothing.
